Biography: |
Brennan & Heart were born and raised in the south of the
Netherlands, where they both have their producing roots.
Ironically enough, they didn’t start their dj careers there.
The legendary party organisation Multigroove picked them up,
where they became residents for over two years.
Brennan, born as Fabian Bohn (22), had found his passion
early. At the age of 14 he began to build his own studio and
started producing for several dance acts (ao. No Exit).
Producing from clubtrance to hardcore, Brennan developed
himself as an all-round producer, but he set his mind to his
trance projects “Club Frequency” and “2nd Area”. After
sending out some demo cds, companies as A&S and Combined
Forces were interested. He came in contact with EMI where he
signed a contract.
Heart, born as Pieter Heijnen (25), also started producing
first. Only armed with a computer, he composed hundreds of
tracks, but not with the intention of becoming a pro. That
changed when Heart met Brennan. They decided to get together
in Brennan’s studio and the collaboration suited both very
well. However, when Heart moved to Tilburg for his study of
journalism, they lost sight of each other. In that time,
Heart also started working as a dj at student parties and
holiday camps.
The next year Brennan decided to begin a study of music
management in Tilburg, too. He contacted Heart and together
they found an apartment where it was possible to set up the
studio. The next months they produced several tracks
together and it resulted in one of the first hardstyle
releases in Holland: “Bassdriver – Fatal Invasion” on
Combined Forces, supported by ao. Luna, Isaac and
Warmduscher.
After the international success of this clubhit, Brennan &
Heart were asked to do a remix for the French project High
Speed. The Bassdriver remix of “Tainted Love” scored well in
France, Belgium, Germany and Holland and they were asked to
join a dance concept in a club in the south of Holland where
they became residents and played hardstyle as one of the
first.
Because of their releases on Combined Forces, Brennan &
Heart got in contact with Origin Unknown, who made a dj tool
with "The First Rebirth" melody in it and MG Records wanted
to release this track. Origin Unknown asked Brennan & Heart
to do a remix of the track and the first MG release was a
fact: "Origin Unknown - Red Planet" including Brennan &
Heart's 'Misdome Remix'
Impressed by the Misdome Remix, Brennan & Heart were asked
for the second release. “Brennan & Heart present Misdome
Project” was the next step in the progress of their career.
This vinyl was supported by a wide range of dj’s: Yoji
Biomehanika, Dana but also Johan Gielen played the tracks.
MG offered Brennan & Heart to do a live act on the MG
Queensday Rave 2002. As “Misdome Project”, Brennan & Heart
placed almost their entire studio on the stage and did a
100% live act. It was a huge success and the next one would
be the start as residents on these gigs.
Because the variety of styles on these parties, Brennan &
Heart always got inspired by more musical influences then
just harddance. They played on huge parties with names as CJ
Bolland, Zen, Don Diablo, Simon Foy and Nick Lunn but also
with Isaac, Pavo, Scot Project and Cosmic Gate, which gives
a good example of this diversity.
In that time, they worked fulltime in the studio to create a
new repertoire ranging from all the influences they brought
home with their bookings. Working together with another big
name producer, they set up a techtrance project and made a
big club bomb: "Orion's Voice - The Next Life" also got to
position 11 in the most important chart of the UK, the
Massive Chart. It was released on 'Re-Fuel Records', which
currently gets respect from all across the planet.
The second Orion's Voice has just been released. With use of
the vocal capacities of techno dj Dave Mitchell, this track
stands out from others with techno, trance and even some
oldschool influences. "Orion's Voice - Cockroaches" has just
been out and is currently one of the favourite tracks of
Judge Jules and many other big DJ's.
Back to 9 November 2002 when one of the best parties in the
Hemkade ever was held! Without any doubt, Brennan & Heart
played an unforgettable set with about 50% own tunes and dj
tools. From this moment on, they were seen as the most
promising harddance duo out there.
To enlarge their journey Brennan & Heart did a release on
one of the hottest labels of that time Fusion Records, known
from ao. Pavo, Zany and Donkey Rollers. “Brennan & Heart –
Disappearance” terrorised many charts for weeks, ao. the
Dance Trends and the IDP chart (highest pos 4), appeared on
more than 15 compilations and got licensed to Spain and
Germany.
Two months after the release of Disappearance, “Which Way To
Go” saw the light on Brennan & Heart’s own label Zero2Nine
Records. It was picked up very well in the UK, resulting in
a position in the DMC chart.
With Zero2Nine Records, Brennan & Heart want to show their
own vision of harddance. Combining trance, techno, acid and
other styles with hardstyle, Zero2Nine Records has its own
original twist and isn’t comparable with other hardstyle
labels.
It was dj Gizmo who entitled the Brennan & Heart remix on
the second Zero2Nine release “The best hardstyle track of
2003”. “B.v.R. – Hardventure” was the official anthem for
this huge event in Germany, where Brennan & Heart also
showed their dj skills. The vinyl got sold out and is still
very wanted.
After these three releases, the names of Brennan & Heart
were set. Every harddance label was interested in their
tracks. First in line was Straight On Recordings, who wanted
a Brennan & Heart release after having heard two dj tools
they made for their set in November, called “Acid Revenge”
and “Come Out!”. “Bend Over Bitch” completed the “Brennan &
Heart present HardState” release.
The reactions on the HardState vinyl were massive. Every
harddance dj picked one of the three tracks as their
favourite and played it. It also resulted in high chart
positions in Germany, Switzerland and Holland. The success
is so huge that after four months when the release came out,
the vinyl still gets repressed.
Next in line was the third Zero2Nine release, which was a
reunion with an old friend. With the collaboration of Origin
Unknown, Brennan & Heart remixed his classic: “SHOCK!” and
it got supported by numerous harddance dj’s, ao. The
Prophet, Luna, Marc Acardipane and Isaac.
Having released for over 30 vinyls and 10 remixes the last
years, it is clear that Brennan & Heart have grown to top of
the bill producers. With all these releases, they also were
picked up abroad. Bookings across the world have brought
them to countries as Curacao, UK, United States, Malta,
Belgium and Germany and the list will grow further and
further this year with bookings in Switzerland, Greece,
Spain and even South Africa.
About upcoming releases, Brennan & Heart weren’t on a break.
Within a few weeks Scantraxx Recordz, known from ao.
Hardheadz, Dj Duro and of course The Prophet, will release
two Brennan & Heart vinyls: “The Worxx Part I & II”
containing four new “Brennan & Heart Style” tracks.
Besides the Scantraxx releases, next month “One of Three –
Stop The Madness” will see the light on Exxess Records/Media
Records, where Brennan & Heart show again that they have
their own unique harddance sound.
But the most fuss is about the next Zero2Nine release:
“Brennan – Speakercheck / Rush To The Floor”. Getting hyped
by ao. Isaac, Deaz D, Trilok and Chiren, “Speakercheck” will
be found on the next Bitte Ein Beat compilation and getting
hyped by ao. Deepack, Gizmo, Beholder and Balistic “Rush To
The Floor” will contribute to the newest Hard Bass
compilation.
Brennan & Heart are now working on the “HardState” follow
up. Additionally they have also planned some very exiting
and unusual remixes for Zero2Nine Records. It all has the
right ingredients that this very promising and talented
harddance duo will make it to the top! |
