Biography: |
DJ Pila started mixing at the age of 15. He enjoyed this so
much that he decided to buy a set of turntables together
with a friend. They played mainly hip-hop and swing beat.
In 1992 he got a chance to play at Thunderdome 2 from ID&T
at the Frieslandhallen. He agreed with the organiser that if
he was good enough he could also play at the next
Thunderdome parties. From that moment on DJ Pila started
mixing hardcore at most large parties and discotheques
throughout the country and abroad. He was well known for his
technical skills and for always delivering a top-class set.
One of his most memorable parties took place in 1997 at the
airport of Geneva where he played together with Buzz Fuzz,
Chosen Few, Miss Djax and The Prodigy.
Half way through the nineties he started producing for his
own record label called RNO Records from which the track
'Mindcontroller" is a hardcore classic. He also produced a
record together with The Scientist and Chosen Few for Mokum
Records, which charted number 15 in the dance top 40 at
radio538.
In 1997 DJ Pila got in contact with an Indonesian organizer
who asked him to play his records over there. He arranged a
tour throughout Western Java, as well as Singapore and
Thailand.
After returning at the beginning of 1999 he was searching
for a different style of music and found this eventually in
Techno and Hardstyle. He started producing and creating a
new sound together with The Scientist and they had their
first Live-act at the Qlimax party at the beginning of
February this year with success.
Now at the end of 2002 he teamed up with The Scientist and
DJ Luna to start-up StraightOn Recordings. |
